This elegantly packaged multi-label promo from the Latvian Music Information Centre is by far the best sampler available of today’s strengthening Latvian traditional and trad-roots scene, enticingly showcasing in 20 tracks the emerging range of ways, from silvery kokles through dense, edgy chanting, of interpreting the stark, limited-compass melodies of Latvian traditional songs to make contemporary music. www.lmic.lv
